I made my first folk-style tincture in 2018 from the hawthorn trees that surround my home in the catskills mountains of new york state, on unceded seized territory of the Haudenosaunee people. since then I have been making herbal tinctures teas, oils, and salves from plants that I gather or grow, and studying herbalism both formally and informally. my primary teachers are katja swift and ryn midura from commonwealth center for holistic herbalism, and my primary source for seeds, basic formulas and dosage is the cech family at strictly medicinal—though I also learn a lot from my peers in herbalism communities worldwide. if you wound up with a bottle of something I made in your hands, you’ll find basic information about it here.
